No longer:
Is it possible that I have misjudged Mitt Romney? My take has always been that he's a smart guy who also happens to be both ambitious and completely amoral; ... [m]ore and more, however, he has been coming out with statements suggesting that he is, in fact, a dangerous fool.At issue is Romney's recent thoughts about the $2 billion loss at Jamie Dimon's JPMorgan. Here's what Romney said:
This was a loss to shareholders and owners of JPMorgan and that's the way America works Some people experienced a loss in this case because of a bad decision. By the way, there was someone who made a gain. The $2 billion JPMorgan lost someone else gained. There's a kind of predator-sense to that — one man's thigh can feed a lion for a week.
But before you read on, ask yourself: What is Romney missing? What does he not get about JPMorgan?
Answer — all of the money-center banks are being run like public utilities, where the profits are skimmed into Big Boy pockets, and the losses come from straight from You. Krugman:
Can Romney really not understand that key financial institutions are different from any old business — that ... taxpayers are ultimately on the hook for [their] large losses[.]That's correct. Romney really is that blind. Entitled, completely amoral ... and blind.

It seems to me if you can afford to spend $10 million on an attack ad, you can probably afford to renovate your own damned stadium. And it seems like Mayor Emanuel has come to the same conclusion:
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is not returning calls from the Ricketts family and is "livid" over a New York Times report that Joe Ricketts commissioned a proposal for a multimillion-dollar ad campaign linking President Obama to the president's former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, according to an Emanuel aide.
Joe Ricketts's children, which include Obama bundler Laura Ricketts, bought the Chicago Cubs in 2009 and have been in talks with the city about renovating the team's 98-year-old stadium, Wrigley Field.
That appears to be on hold now.
"The Mayor was livid when he read that the Ricketts were going to launch a $10 million campaign against President Obama – with the type of racially motivated ads that are insulting to the president and the presidential campaign," said the aide, who was granted anonymity to speak candidly about the situation. "He is also livid with their blatant hypocrisy."
The aide also said Emanuel, who is Obama's former chief of staff, has cut off communication with the family.
"The Ricketts have tried to contact the mayor, but he's said that he does not want to talk with them today, tomorrow or anytime soon," the aide said.
It is not a good thing. The immigrants do not share American values, so it is a good bet that they will not be voting Republican when they start voting in large numbers.
[...]
Instead, the USA is being transformed by immigrants who do not share those values, and who have high rates of illiteracy, illegitimacy, and gang crime, and they will vote Democrat when the Democrats promise them more food stamps.
This is hardly the first time The Eagle Foundation has pushed xenophobia.

Students at a public Oklahoma high school were given copies of a movie that compares abortion to the Holocaust after a local family asked the principal if they could distribute the DVDs to students, according to a local TV station. The movie begins with images of Hitler and concentration camps before making a comparison between the Holocaust and abortion.
The principal agreed to hand out the anti-abortion film, titled 180, if students obtained parental consent first, but the copies were handed out before parents were notified. One parent told Fox 23 heard about it from her stepdaughter:
"She said that she had seen a DVD in school that basically said that if you have an abortion then you are no better than the Nazis and you will go to hell," says concerned parent, Marty Angus.
Angus was furious after his stepdaughter came home and told him she had seen it in class.
"She said well, we went to our lockers on break and there was a note that said come pick up your free DVD," says Angus.
Officials confiscated the movies after realizing how graphic the movie was, but two classrooms saw it first. "I thought it was graphic and a clear violation between church and state and it was just awful to be shown to a high school student," Marty Angus, whose stepdaughter saw the movie in class, told Fox 23.
The Christian ministry Living Waters produced the movie. When it was released in 2011, the Anti-Defamation League called the fillm "one of the most offensive and outrageous abuses of the memory of the Holocaust we have seen in years."

Well tut tut, a Friday news dump: Mitt Romney's first general election ad! Since it's an official ad, it's nice and sunny and banal, unlike the "HOW MANY FOUNDING FATHERS DID OBAMA RAPE TODAY?" ones that his forty Super PACs will be running nonstop. It's about Mitt Romney's first day. What will happen? It will be sunny and tractors will cut wheat. A man will open a door in front of his Small Business. Each American will get five Keystone pipelines. Romney will "issue order to begin" fixing the health care system by eliminating the health care system and replacing it with tax cuts. Savvy young tech whizzes will play on the computer. Mitt Romney will give a speech before a joint session of Congress, on Day 1. A black lady in a business suit will fold her arms and smile because of Mitt Romney. He will stand next to a black man for two seconds for the cameras. Also too, Reforms. Then he'll jump off a cliff, in despair, maybe. The years 2013-2017 will be "good for America," hehe, hoo boy. READ MORE »
