"Many liberal Americans continue to scream about raising taxes to bring down the debt. But that crushes economic expansion. Corporations and rich folks will only take so much taxation before they leave the building, as Elvis once did. - Bill O'Lielly, FOX's lying Nazi whore

Clinton raised taxes on the super-rich and America prospered like never before.
Bush cut taxes for the super-rich, drastically, and America went bankrupt.

It's that simple, but our braindead Democrats can't figure it out.

Nuclear Emergency: Japan Warns of Radiation Leak from Quake-Hit Plant

Had the massive 8.9 Richter-scale earthquake that has just savaged Japan hit off the California coast, it could have ripped apart at least four coastal reactors and sent a lethal cloud of radiation across the entire United States.

But nuclear power is totally safe. Let's build lots more of these things.

"There is much we can do in the tax code to crack down on cheaters and vastly improve compliance."- Chuck Schumer, barking up the wrong tree Link

Chuck, there's three ways to balance the budget over-fucking-night.
  1. Raise taxes on the super-rich and close all the loopholes.
  2. Exxon-Mobil and Bank of America PAY NO TAXES and they're super-rich.
  3. Tax the goddamn churches.

It's so easy, but you gutless fools are mice.

"I think there should be some self-examination from the administration on the idea that you favor a woman's right to an abortion, but you don't favor a woman or a man's right to choose what kind of light bulb, what kind of dishwasher, what kind of washing machine." -- Rand Paul

"The Bible tells us in Matthew 24 that one of the signs of the last days – one of the birth pangs to occur – is an increase in earthquake activity and intensity. We're seeing that happen here. It's not just earthquakes, but hurricanes and all kinds of natural disasters. Indeed, in Matthew 24:4-14, Jesus tells His disciples in response to questions about His second coming and the end of the age." - Pastor Tim LaHaye, author of the best selling Left Behind series, saying that today's earthquake in Japan is part of the End Times.

RELATED: LaHaye and his wife are visiting Hawaii today and as a precaution they were evacuated to the top floor of his hotel, where he says he "feels safe" now the the tsunami threat has subsided. Hang on, didn't this guy write 16 books about the glory of being raptured? What's he so afraid of?

Paul Krugman:

Some have asked if there aren't conservative sites I read regularly. Well, no. I will read anything I've been informed about that's either interesting or revealing; but I don't know of any economics or politics sites on that side that regularly provide analysis or information I need to take seriously. I know we're supposed to pretend that both sides always have a point; but the truth is that most of the time they don't. The parties are not equally irresponsible; Rachel Maddow isn't Glenn Beck; and a conservative blog, almost by definition, is a blog written by someone who chooses not to notice that asymmetry. And life is short …

New York state Senator Carl Kruger is one of the four notorious Democrats who killed David Patterson's push to legalize gay marriage in the state last year. So it should come as no surprise that he is utterly corrupt and lives with his gay lover and his gay lover's mother. According to the charges against him, Kruger accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for support in the legislature, and his lover Michael Turano set up fake companies to accept the money. It's still unclear why a gay man like Kruger whose party even supported gay marriage saw the need to kill it with the help of a few friends, unless he was just trying to be the worst state senator humanly possible. Apocalypse Now: Michelle Bachmann probably running for president

'HARRRRREEEEEEEECHEEEEEEEEEUNNNNNGHGHGGG'

If you need any more evidence these are the end times, here you go: congressional banshee Michele Bachmann is getting closer and closer to deciding she's going to run for president. Like, president of the United States. Yeah, that one. For real for real. "She is seriously considering running and getting a full team lined up and making sure it's the right one," some Iowa Teabgger told CNN. "It will be different than everyone else. She will have a very good team behind her if she does decide to run." Naturally, her campaign staff will be composed of various hell beasts, nuclear-waste monsters, sharks, and vengeful zombie fetuses with tiny flamethrowers. READ MORE »

The Family Research Council is asking its supporters to pray against equality in Maryland.
Pray that the bill to legalize same-sex "marriage" will be defeated in the Maryland House. May Maryland be the Gettysburg in the war to overthrown marriage, and be followed by judicial decisions, legislative and citizen action that uphold DOMA, California's Marriage Amendment (Proposition 8) and protect traditional, Biblical marriage in every state (Gen 1:27-28; 13:13; 18:20-21; 19:12-13, 24-25; Mt 19:4-6; 1 Cor 6:9-11; Heb 13:4; Jude 7).
They add a prayer PS: "Now is the time, amid the longest recession since the great depression and with public sentiment on our side, to defund everything immoral or morally questionable. Such will happen as we pray. Thank you for praying!"

They should have prayed that Japan wouldn't be wiped out by an earthquake.

Shocker: NPR Videos Selectively Edited

Via Digby, it turns out The Blaze, Glenn Beck's Huff Post thing, has more or less debunked the authenticity of the latest James O'Keefe videos in which he scams Ron Schiller, an executive from NPR.

First:

But you may be surprised to learn, that in the raw video, Schiller also speaks positively about the GOP. He expresses pride in his own Republican heritage and his belief in fiscal conservatism.

And:

...the clip in the edited video implies Schiller is giving simply his own analysis of the Tea Party. He does do that in part, but the raw video reveals that he is largely recounting the views expressed to him by two top Republicans, one a former ambassador, who admitted to him that they voted for Obama.

Fancy that. A misleading and cleverly edited James O'Keefe video. Uncovered by Glenn Beck's website!

Eric Cantor and the House Republicans, along with certain members of the media, owe Ron Schiller an apology.

'Everyone Has to Sacrifice'

More than 1,000 people are dead and 88,000 people are reported missing in Japan due to the earthquake and the tsunami. Apply those numbers to a very populated American coastline and consider what the Republicans want to do with their slash and burn budget:

According to the House Appropriation Committee's summary of the bill, the CR funds Operations, Research and Facilities for the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association with $454.3 million less than it got in FY2010; this represents a $450.3 million cut from what the president's never-passed FY2011 budget was requesting. The National Weather Service, of course, is part of NOAA -- its funding drops by $126 million. The CR also reduces funding for FEMA management by $24.3 million off of the FY2010 budget, and reduces that appropriation by $783.3 million for FEMA state and local programs.

The Republicans (and even the White House) keep saying that we all need to sacrifice in light of the deficit. Well, not everyone. Certainly not oil companies that will retain their full subsidies, thanks to the Republicans. But everyone else. Except rich people who won't have their taxes raised. Everyone else, though. Now all we have to do is clap real hard and hope there's not another ocean-related natural disaster.

This is how evil the Republican Party truly is. They want to use your puppies for scientific experimentation to benefit corporate R&D. The "scientific or educational purposes"? That's vivisection, or performing surgery on a live subject. So if you let little Spot get loose in Appleton or Madison and the Animal Control Officer gets his hands on him, he could easily be sold to scientific research for a $1.

What makes this especially evil is that Omand manages a community mental health program.

NH GOP Senator Says The Mentally Ill Are 'Defective People' That Should Be Shipped Off To Siberia

Omand says Harty then stated, "I wish we had a Siberia so we could ship them all off to freeze to death and die and clean up the population." Omand said Harty appeared to be serious. After Omand responded that his idea sounded like what Adolf Hitler did in World War II, Omand said Harty responded, "Hitler did something right, and I agree with (it)."
There you have it. Can the brownshirts be far behind?

Damn Repugs get a buncha governors and state legislatures and don't give a shit anymore about keeping their nefarious agenda secret, not that it was.

Compassionate Conservatives are finally out from under their rocks. I hope the sunlight is as cleansing as it's cracked up to be.

This is really unbelievable totally believable. From Karoli at Crooks and Liars:

A big thank-you to xoff at UppityWisconsin for this find. Remember that power plant provision? It wasn't in the document passed by the Senate on Wednesday. But guess what! It was changed before the Assembly vote on Thursday to include it.

Peter King, hater:

Is Peter King absolutely, positively, 100% certain that he doesn't want to expand the scope of his domestic terrorism hearings? How about now? "Five people, including militia activist Schaeffer Cox, were arrested Thursday in the Fairbanks area for allegedly conspiring to kill multiple Alaska State Troopers and a federal judge. ... The group had stockpiled weapons and conducted surveillance on the homes of two troopers, according to Alaska State Troopers. Some of the weapons known to be in the cache are prohibited by state or federal law, according to troopers. ... "

Conservatives shouldn't mock anyone's heartfealt tears, not so long as Weeper Boehner and his Mighty Gavel of Doom are running the House. "Rep. Keith Ellison's emotional testimony before the House Homeland Security Committee's hearing on Muslim radicalization as he recounted the tale of a 9/11 first responder who died in the attack was powerful stuff. But some conservatives had a different reaction -- suggesting Ellison was putting on a show and even that there were not false rumors about the 9/11 first responder in the heated period after the attacks. ... Mohammed Salman Hamdani was, as Ellison testified, "a 23-year-old paramedic, a New York City police cadet and a Muslim American. He was one of those brave first responders who tragically lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks almost a decade ago." Ellison testified that some people "spread false rumors and speculated that he was in league with the attackers only because he was Muslim." ... "Ellison's crocodile tears are in service of a deception," wrote Robert Spencer on his blog Jihad Watch. "The existence of Muslims who truly accept American Constitutional freedoms does not mitigate or refute the existence of jihadists, jihad sympathizers, and Islamic supremacists among Muslims in the U.S., and vice versa. This would be an elementary point taken for granted by everyone were it not for the determined efforts of Congressman Ellison (D-Muslim Brotherhood) and his allies to obfuscate it." ... Ellison, wrote Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin, was "drawing sympathy from the same liberals and pundits who had taunted the speaker of the House for his tears" -- comparing Boehner's tears over not being able to visit schools anymore to Ellison crying about attacks on a Sept. 11 victim due to his faith."

Back when he was blaming President Obama for the fact that so many malinformed right-wingers believe that he is Muslim, Glenn Beck was fond of remarking that Obama's brand of Christianity is "a Christianity that many Americans just don't recognize," and "I don't know what that is, other than it's not Muslim, it's not Christian. It's a perversion of the gospel of Jesus Christ as most Christians know it."

As Jon adroitly observed at the time, he was playing with fire: "Sadly for the Fox News host, as many of his Tea Bagging allies view his Mormon faith in precisely the same terms."

Of course, you'll recall that much of the thrust of Beck's work in the past year, particularly his big shindig on the Capitol Mall, was about marrying the Tea Partiers with the Religious Right. But we had to wonder how long it would be before his new "friends" on the evangelical set couldn't stomach his Mormonism any longer.

Well, now we know. From WorldNutDaily:

Christian author: Glenn Beck actually New Age 'anti-Christ'

A Christian author and national speaker has just released a video in which he flays radio and TV commentator Glenn Beck as a pagan, New Age "anti-Christ" who is deluding many believers away from the Bible's teachings and leading them toward Eastern mysticism.

Brannon Howse of Worldview Weekend in Collierville, Tenn., who was once a defender of Beck, is now blasting the popular Fox News host based on content of Beck's new book, "Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life," co-authored by psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow.

"Back in August of 2010, I tried warning folks that Glenn Beck was a pagan, New Age, universalistic Mormon, and indeed, he now has revealed his hand," Howse says in the video, which is based on a column he wrote earlier this year. "Beck's book is nothing less than a promotion of universalism, postmodernism and pagan spirituality, also known as the New Age movement."

I doubt that this will even slightly deter the intrepid Beck, who mostly tries to tamp down these kinds of controversies and pretend they didn't happen. At some point, he may have to actually confront these kinds of voices, but most likely he will try to spin it as vindication somehow that he was right all along. Or something.

But it's also a reminder of the pitfalls that await the presidential candidacy of Beck's fellow Mormon, Mitt Romney. This should be an interesting year ahead.

Rod Serling, the writer, director and producer of the popular weekly show called “The Twilight Zone” would appear on camera as the narrator and would say that we all live in a world of imagination and can easily take a wrong turn and step off into the “Twilight Zone.” Little did we know then that Mr. Serling was describing the future post 9/11 world of political correctness. Thus, if he were alive today his narrative would read something like this:
Your are in the Twilight Zone. This is the world of fantasy where terrorists are called “militants” and the war against terror is not a war against the fundamentals of Islam, but a war against a small minority of one hundred million fanatics who “hijacked a peaceful religion”. This is the world of bizarre twists and convoluted turns where murderers and thieves are rewarded with the property of their intended victims and the “road map to peace” requires total surrender to homicidal lunatics.
This is the world beyond reality where atheists pray to themselves in the “Church of Non Belief”. This is the world of imagination in which the officiators of marriages declare, “I now pronounce you husband and husband.” This is the world of denial where threats of genocide are met with open borders and entitlements for all who chose to enter that “unseen” place in the realm of human reflection where right is wrong and left is right.
