Mitt Romney's come undone:
Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney broke with Republican orthodoxy on Friday by saying he believes that humans are responsible, at least to some extent, for climate change."I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that," he told a crowd of about 200 at a town hall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire.
"It's important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors."
The former Massachusetts governor fielded questions on topics ranging from the debt ceiling to abortion on his first full day of campaigning for 2012 Republican primary nomination.
If you think they're only out to outlaw abortion, you're kidding yourself. They are dominionist freaks and they want to outlaw contraception, too. "A fringe anti-abortion group, Personhood USA, has been startlingly successful at pushing forward legislation across the country that would redefine life as beginning at the moment of fertilization, effectively outlawing contraceptives like birth control pills. Although the medical community has long been in agreement that fertilization does not mark the beginning of a pregnancy -- fertilized eggs must first be implanted, and only about half of fertilized eggs actually result in a pregnancy -- a growing number of lawmakers are supporting Personhood USA's efforts to buck medical expertise and legally define life as the moment a sperm meets an egg. ... If they succeed in passing such a law -- and if such a law survives judicial scrutiny -- it could turn common forms of birth control into the legal equivalent of a homicide. While "personhood" laws have always been a transparent attempt to outlaw abortion, the legislation supported by groups like Personhood USA goes much further in trying to assert government control over women's bodies. These laws would recognize every fertilized egg as an individual and complete human being with full rights, and place millions of women in legal jeopardy. According to 2008 numbers, around 11 million American women use birth control pills and another 2 million use intrauterine devices (IUDs). ... Contraceptives like the pill and IUDs not only act to prevent fertilization, but, if fertilization does occur, may prevent that fertilized egg from implanting in a woman's uterus. Personhood USA considers this tantamount to abortion, and wants to make it a punishable offense for women to control their own fertility. Worse, because the proposed legislation could make any effort to terminate a pregnancy a criminal act, it could also bar doctors from saving the lives of women with ectopic pregnancies, which are never viable and need to be terminated as soon as possible."
Do something! No don't do something!
The House of Representatives voted on a pair of resolutions related to the Libyan conflict today. The first resolution — which rebukes President Obama for the way he has conducted the Libyan operation and demands more information and accountability from the administration — passed 268 to 145. The second resolution, authored by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), would've required U.S. armed forces to withdraw from Libya within 15 days. It failed 265 to 148.
House Republicans voted unanimously to shame President Obama for his handling of the situation in Libya, but then also voted unanimously to stay in Libya.
It's worth mentioning though that U.S. forces are not engaged in a direct combat role in day to day operations in Libya, and they haven't been for quite some time. European nations have done and continue to do the overwhelming majority of the heavy lifting.
What will House Republicans do next? Introduce a clean increase to the debt ceiling just so they can vote it down? Oh wait…

Why Does The Republican Party Hate America's Children?
What is the matter with these people? Are Republicans out to make EVIL their personal brand?
House Republicans are pushing back against a series of public health measures, including school lunch standards and tobacco regulation, teeing up a confrontation with Senate Democrats and the White House over the reach of government in daily life.
The Republicans have used an agriculture appropriations bill to send several messages: They don't want the government to require school meals that are more nutritional but also more expensive, they don't want the government to prod food companies to restrain marketing to children, and they don't want the Food and Drug Administration to regulate any substance based on anything but "hard science."
[...]
On Tuesday, the GOP majority on the House Appropriations Committee approved a 2012 spending plan that directs the Agriculture Department to ditch the first new nutritional standards in 15 years proposed for school breakfasts and lunches. The lawmakers say meals containing more fruits and vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy will cost an additional $7 billion over five years — money they say the country can ill afford in difficult economic times.
Really? And yet these scumbags have no problem keeping a war going on in Iraq which is costing hundreds of million per day. The two wars have cost over $1.2 trillion to date. Say what you will about the necessity for the Afghanistan war, but the war in Iraq was undeniably a war of choice – one which has cost over $780 billion. What the U.S. spends in Iraq in less than 2 weeks would cover the "$7 billion over five years" to ensure nutritional breakfasts for American children. Yet Republicans say no in the name of fiscal responsibility. These guys are giving slime a bad name.
Here's the bottom line: if a measure proposed by Dems does not in some way line the pockets of Republican donors, then GOP members are opposed to it no matter how beneficial it might be for Americans. Can it be any clearer? They are more than willing to kill Medicare, hold back funds for tornado victims and the unemployed, cut school funding, refuse to increase taxes for the top 2% of wage earners which would reduce the national debt but they are adamant about keeping subsidies for big oil while refusing to spend $7 billion over 5 years for a measure which benefits America's schoolchildren and helps ensure a healthier nation.
If you're a supporter of the Republican Party than there is something seriously wrong with you. How can you defend these people? Supporting a party which clearly does not give a damn for average Americans makes you an idiot and/or a heartless bastard. There is no other way to put it.
