h/t Dick: David Brooks is a douchebag:

Just a thought: perhaps Mr. Obama's poll numbers are slipping because many of his original supporters, myself included, are becoming increasingly pissed-off at his continuing, always-futile and wasteful efforts to seek 'bi-partisanship' with a dysfunctional, disgraced and ineffectual political party hell-bent on his personal and political destruction, as well as the destruction of his Party and their agenda for the future of this nation.  The numbers will slide until the lights go on.

While she questions Obama's origins, there is no doubt about Liz Cheney's: she originated from the dick of a dick named Dick.

And speaking of Dick, he just learned that the Obama administration has extended his Secret Service protection indefinitely.  http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/07/22/dick-cheney-get... /

A NYC judge has OKd a claim that had been denied in Dan Rather's lawsuit over former pResident Doofy McDiaperrash's AWOLality.

Rather's lawyer Martin Gold said Tuesday the fraud stems from the pussy-assed, Rove-gargling dipshits at CBS' failure to keep promises they made to Rather before firing him over the story about Bush's Vietnam-era military non-service.

Years ago, Texas gadfly and commentator Jim Hightower started agitating for a "Doug Jones Index" to counter the "Dow Jones Index."  He insisted that checking the pulse of a couple dozen blue-chip corporations had nothing do with how ordinary guys on Main Street like Doug were actually thriving or suffering economically.

We still don't have a Doug Jones Index, but Huffington Post has developed the next best thing: a realistic Misery Index.

The world will not end on Friday - again

Asteroid impacting EarthThere's a McClatchy article out there that's raised a few objections from liberal commentators. Both Media Matters and Crooks & Liars have objected to "On Friday, lowest wage workers get a raise," which ignores the opinions of liberal economists in favor of conservative ones. The federal minimum wage increases from $6.55 an hour to $7.25. Conservatives argue that this will bring America to her knees. Four House Democrats who kept their pieholes closed for the abuses during the Bush administration have finally stepped forward to denounce the Bush-like policies of President Obama, particularly his recent signing statement proclaiming that he is not bound by federal legislation. The letter was signed by Reps. David Obey of Wisconsin, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee; Barney Frank of Massachusetts, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee; and subcommittee chairs Reps. Nita Lowey and Gregory Meeks of New York. The letter breaks from the lockstep loyalty shown Obama despite his adoption of many of Bush's most controversial positions.

As Jill points out in the comments:

".....One common excuse for Obama's bad actions is that he was left a mess by the Bush administration. Who can deny he was left a mess? The problem with this excuse is, that if you look at JT's list above and many other actions by Obama, you will see they have nothing to do with the mess Bush left him. They are Obama's own affirmatively chosen policies in violation of the Constitution. The argument that Obama was left a mess does not deal with Obama's chosen actions to destroy the rule of law. That choice is his own.

Not shown in this picture of State Senator Paul Stanley's happy family is his mistress, 23 year old McKensie Morrison, a legislative intern.

A report called An Ageing World, shows that within 10 years older people will outnumber children for the first time. It forecasts that over the next 30 years the number of over-65s is expected to almost double, from 506 million in 2008 to 1.3 billion – a leap from 7% of the world's population to 14%. Already, the number of people in the world 65 and over is increasing at an average of 870,000 each month.

Oh, and Europe and Japan who continue to have longer life spans despite their horrible, socialist health care systems.

The summer of death continues

Gidget died.

She charmed millions without ever saying a word — and managed to make fast-food tacos adorable. Gidget, the Chihuahua best known for her Taco Bell ad campaign (and her famous overdubbed tagline, "Yo Quiero Taco Bell"), died from a stroke on Tuesday night at age 15.

The Godless Liberal Homo on Obama's poll numbers

The corporate media are reporting that President Obama's polling numbers are starting to soften, and they are spinning it as people thinking Obama is too far to the left. Pollsters are citing government spending by the Obama administration as part of it. Let's think about it.

Our troops are still in Iraq. Nothing much has been done on queer issues. The Obama administration has pretty much ignored passing the Employee Free Choice Act. Obama supports involving insurance companies and HMOs in "healthcare reform" instead of single payer healthcare. Even the biggest area of government spending is going towards the banksters and the brokesters instead of the middle class and the poor. Obama's and the congressional Democrats' efforts on Global Warming have been weak at best.

Who should be angry?

My suspicion is that President Obama is losing support from the left, not the center. But, the corporate media want to pretend that Obama's center right policies are the farthest left that can even be considered by significant numbers of Americans. Corporate interests have led to censorship of real news that makes their news outlets sillier by the day.

Tell ya what, sport - men can have the final say on abortion when you are the ones who get pregnant  A wingnut legislator from Ohio has introduced legislation that would prohibit a woman from obtaining an abortion unless the biological father gives his consent.

I have said it before and I will say it again - if men got pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament, performed on the altar of the Catholic church.

Repuke family val ...

An alleged extortion attempt has exposed a possible sexual relationship between a prominent state senator and a young legislative intern.
That senator is Republican Paul Stanley from Memphis, chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, and KISS front ma... what? Oh, too bad, that would have explained a lot. No matter....
Authorities said he was the victim in the alleged extortion, but the case is certain to raise plenty of questions about Stanley and his family-values agenda.
Snort.
Stanley is married with two children.
Of course he is.

Gitmo abuse continues.
