David Brooks: The Mother of All No-Brainers

The insane people are running the party, and now morons like David Brooks and the "reasonable Republicans" are like "WTF happened" when they were the ones fluffing the nutters for years. Even assuming there are Republicans left in the house that really are not insane enough to default the government, an assumption I am simply not willing to make, they are terrified they will lose their job like the other tens of millions of people suffering from Republican policies, because the teahadists will primary them.

And anyone who still calls themselves a Republican is just an asshole. Really, you've had ample time to figure out your party is run by maniacs. If you're still sticking around because the "Democrats are worse" or you think the party can turn it around or because you fancy yourself a small "c" conservative or you are a glibertarian or because you hate taxes or you think Dennis Kucinich is weird (he is), you're just an asshole. And incredibly stupid.

Climate scientists "go there" -- Climate Change is causing voilent, extreme weather.ne of the predictions of climate change models is that extreme weather -- floods, heat waves, droughts, even blizzards -- will become far more common. "Big rain events and higher overnight lows are two things we would expect with [a] warming world," says Deke Arndt, chief of the center's Climate Monitoring Branch. Arndt's group had already documented a stunning rise in overnight low temperatures across the U.S. So are the floods and spate of other recent extreme events also examples of predictions turned into cold, hard reality? ... Increasingly, the answer is yes. Scientists used to say, cautiously, that extreme weather events were "consistent" with the predictions of climate change. No more. "Now we can make the statement that particular events would not have happened the same way without global warming," says Kevin Trenberth, head of climate analysis at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colo.

This is what biblical literalism in the mind of a juvenile white supremacist leads to. "An Oxnard student carefully planned and carried out the execution of a 15-year-old gay classmate because of his ongoing feud with the victim and his white supremacist belief that homosexuality is an abomination, a Ventura County prosecutor said Tuesday. ... Brandon McInerney, now 17, is charged with murder in the 2008 shooting death of Lawrence King in a high-profile case that has rallied the gay community and triggered calls for greater protections of young homosexuals on school campuses. ... King was bullied by McInerney and other boys at the school, Deputy Dist. Atty. Maeve Fox said in her opening statement in the trial, which is being conducted at a courthouse in Chatsworth. But shortly before his death, King had begun wearing high heels, makeup and earrings to school and had become more confident in himself, she said. ... "Larry King for the first time in his life wasn't taking it anymore," Fox said. "And he started to give people what I prefer to call the proverbial chin. Only it was more profane. The proverbial 'f ... you.'" ... The day before King was shot, the two boys had been bickering in a eighth-grade science class, she said. When King got up to get a drink of water, "Brandon said 'I am going to shoot him.' And this is what a student will testify to." ... The next day McInerney pulled a .22-caliber handgun out of his backpack and shot King in the head, authorities have said."

From an editorial on World Net Daily today:
Is there any medical evidence in existence that indicates polygamists and polyandrists have anything at all resembling the HIV/AIDS and syphilis rates of our nation's promiscuous homosexuals – so many of whom have died of AIDS and syphilis? Moreover, if the president believes that gays, lesbians and transsexuals are "our brothers and sisters," why does he not also believe that "our brothers and sisters" include not only polygamists, but exhibitionists, the incestuous, coprophiliacs, necrophiliacs, urophiliacs and zoophiliacs (those who have sex with animals who are unable – or unwilling – to run away)?

None of these additional sexual orientations has the huge rate of HIV/AIDS and syphilis, which deadly diseases are distributed so widely by the nation's large number of sexually profligate homosexuals. Their continued deadly-disease spreading was surely aided and abetted by Mr. Obama's announcement that they (with no distinction between the sexually profligate and other homosexuals) are "our brothers, our sisters, our children, our cousins, our friends, our co-workers." Such presidential pandering to deadly-disease spreaders is surely a despicable means of trying to attract votes by an incumbent who will apparently do anything to try to win re-election.
The author of the above piece is WND's White House correspondent. SRSLY. This raving lunatic gets to stand up and ask the president questions.

Math problems
Rick Santorum Accuses Awful Obama of Best Employment Policy On Earth
we will go ahead and wager her math skills are better than his.

Frozen shitsicle Rick Santorum went on CNN today to remind everyone that he cannot do math, he is illiterate and he has no idea how many people live or work in the United States, all in under 60 seconds. Here is the world according to Rick: gigantic failure Barack Obama created "only" 240 million jobs for everyone who wanted one, instead of the 280 million he promised them. So basically Obama is the "worst" best jobs president in the history of ever, since the American labor force is made up of 153 million people who now all have roughly 1.5 jobs to thank him for. Video after the jump:

Santorum is screwing up the numbers from a recent administration report about the number of jobs generated by the stimulus, which the Council of Economic Advisers put at between 2.4 and 3.6 million. So, he cannot read. When CNN host Ali Velshi asks him what in the hell he is talking about, he babbles words that end in him saying the stimulus cost America 30 million jobs because of this mystery report that said 280 million jobs, and now 240 million jobs, which equals negative 30 million. This takes place between the :30 and 1:30 mark.

Maybe there should be some math problems on the presidential campaign filing paperwork

"Want to know why Eric Cantor REALLY walked away from debt-limit negotiations last week? Because he has a financial stake in our nation defaulting on its debt.  According to Cantor's latest financial disclosures – he has a $15,000 short on the dollar – in other words, a $15,000 bet that the US dollar's value will plummet.  And there's no better way to cause the dollar to lose value – than to ensure America defaults on its debt.  Cantor's office dismissed concerns over what appears to be a blatant conflict of interest – arguing that the short bet is just part of a "balanced portfolio."

I've been saying Republicans want to crash the economy to make Obama look bad in 2012 – but it appears they also want to crash the economy to pad their own bank accounts as well."
Thom Hartmann, Link

Why won't out money-driven press cover this story?
Because there's no penis in it - like the Weiner story.

That's what made Monica the biggest story in Amertican political history - there was a penis in it.

Why is our money-driven press so obsessed with penises?

The invisible hand will protect us now
Capitalism Win of The Day: Texas Town Fires Police Force To Balance Budget
is he cutting the budget or cutting up citizens?
The budget heroes of Alt0, Texas have run the numbers, and they have concluded the town's police force was just not very lucrative when it came to the town's revenues, probably because police are typical "government freeloaders." Snip saw hack! So the city council cut the police department from the budget, fired all the policemen for not doing anything at all besides sucking tax dollars down the drain, and sent them home. Is it really so bad? Maybe now the fired coppers can work as freelancers, like in Mexico, where the free market handles security decisions correctly, with capitalism. And probably the neighborhood vigilante mob with its rifles will fill in the gaps, so this is now officially a great idea.  READ MORE »

We have been trying to tell you for years that the oil wars are just a prelude -- the real fight is going to be over water. And it's going to be fought on battlefields and against corporations that want to privatize the most essential molecule for life right after O2. "Sitka, Alaska, is home to one of the world's most spectacular lakes. Nestled into a U-shaped valley of dense forests and majestic peaks, and fed by snowpack and glaciers, the reservoir, named Blue Lake for its deep blue hues, holds trillions of gallons of water so pure it requires no treatment. The city's tiny population -- fewer than 10,000 people spread across 5,000 square miles -- makes this an embarrassment of riches. Every year, as countries around the world struggle to meet the water needs of their citizens, 6.2 billion gallons of Sitka's reserves go unused. That could soon change. In a few months, if all goes according to plan, 80 million gallons of Blue Lake water will be siphoned into the kind of tankers normally reserved for oil -- and shipped to a bulk bottling facility near Mumbai. From there it will be dispersed among several drought-plagued cities throughout the Middle East. The project is the brainchild of two American companies. One, True Alaska Bottling, has purchased the rights to transfer 3 billion gallons of water a year from Sitka's bountiful reserves. The other, S2C Global, is building the water-processing facility in India. If the companies succeed, they will have brought what Sitka hopes will be a $90 million industry to their city, not to mention a solution to one of the world's most pressing climate conundrums. They will also have turned life's most essential molecule into a global commodity."

He's talking about Christie here, but you could say the same about any of the GOP leaders.

NJ New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney: "He's a rotten prick."

Also. Too.
"He's just a rotten bastard to do what he did."

Hard to feel any sympathy for Sweeney. For reasons unclear to me, he sold out his constituency on pensions and health reforms, apparently expecting Christie to give him something in return in the budget. You'll be shocked to learn that in return for Sweeney's bipartisan comity, Governor Blowhard screwed him. Or rather, Christie screwed the most vulnerable among us.
He mowed down a series of Democratic add-ons, including $45 million in tax credits for the working poor, $9 million in health care for the working poor, $8 million for women's health care, another $8 million in AIDS funding and $9 million in mental-health services.

Wondering when we start calling the GOP death by spending cuts agenda what it really is—virtual genocide.

Nothing quite like a good old fashioned lynching metaphor directed at a black president to cement your hate cred with the teabaggers, eh?

Despicable. This is no gaffe. Romney knows damn well what he's doing.

But not "disturbed" enough to do jack shit about it. "Somalis who have fled drought and civil war to neighbouring Ethiopia and Kenya are showing "unprecedented levels" of malnutrition, and some children have died of hunger and exhaustion on their way out of the country, the United Nations refugee agency said on Tuesday. The UN is "particularly disturbed" by malnutrition among children, said Melissa Fleming, the spokeswoman for the High Commissioner on Refugees. More than 50 per cent of the children arriving in Ethiopia are malnourished, compared to 30 to 40 per cent of those coming to Kenya, she said. Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports on the worst drought in the Horn of Africa in six decades Some children reportedly have died while attempting to make the trek from southern Somalia to camps in the other countries, Fleming said, while many die within 24 hours of arriving at the camps. "Many families tell us they exhausted virtually all of their resources. Facing starvation, they walk for days, several weeks at times, through the desert, arriving in an appalling state of health," she said. Fleming said UNHCR estimated that a quarter of Somalia's 7.5 million population was now either internally displaced or living outside the country as refugees."

Mother Nature attacks Jim Inhofe for climate change denial

and here he is in ventriloquist mode

The Earth was tired of ventriloquist dummy Jim Inhofe walking around with those sweaty Koch fingers up his butt and clacking his jaw all day long about how climate change is all super fake, so nature cold attacked Inhofe with a diseased giant green blob. No, really! Was there a clever trap? No, because Inhofe is so sure climate problems of all kinds are so fake that he willingly took a swim in a fetid lake filled with a massive, unusual algae bloom probably caused by scorching temperatures from Oklahoma's horrific turn as new location for the third circle of hell. And, surprise, it gave him a horrible respiratory infection that caused him to miss a Koch-funded climate change skeptics' conference in Chicago! God may not be good at doling out justice, but Mother Nature will Eff. You. Up. READ MORE »
