Headlines - Monday May 2

Breaking News: Bush wasn't there this time to stop our SpecOps guys when they got close, and Osama bin Laden is dead.

Now, can we finally stop pretending that Pakistan is our friend? Bin Ladin wasn't hiding in a cave in the mountains.
[H]e was found not in the remote tribal areas along the Pakistani-Afghan border where he has long been presumed to be sheltered, but in a massive compound about an hour's drive north from the Pakistani capital of Islamabad. He was hiding in the medium-sized city of Abbottabad, home to a large Pakistani military base and a military academy of the Pakistani Army.
It was as though he was hiding out in a ten-million dollar estate in West Point, NY. The Pakistanis knew he was there. They had to have known.

Fox News leads the way in accuracy once again:

WINNER!

CNN just reported that "George Bush would have loved to have delivered" this news.  Puhleez.  George Bush dismantled the CIA office in charge of going after Bin Laden so he could move the resources to being preparing for war with Iraq.

Well, the Alabama Senate finally got around to it. A vote Wednesday eliminated Jim Crow laws and other segregationist measures in the State's 340,000 word constitution that was adopted in 1901. The struck language eliminates requirements for separation of the races in educational institutions and the infamous polls taxes. The vote was 22-9 with all Republican senators voting in favor of the legislation.

Some Democratic legislators opposed the bill as too little, too late. Sen. Linda Coleman, D-Birmingham, said there were still racist problems in Alabama's constitution, including schools that she said are not equitably funded. "This bill to me is a farce. It's a smokescreen," Coleman said. " Jim Crow is still here…. We know there are disparities," she added.  Continue reading ''Bama Finally Bids Jim Crow Adieu'

As we watch repug governors and legislators turn our states into laboratories of Corporatist Serfdom, Congressional repugs splash austerity gasoline onto the recessionary fire, and repug presidential hopefuls race for the insanity crown, keep this list handy for comparison.

Huckabee assures NRA members that Barack Obama really will, eventually, get around to coming for their guns, maybe, perhaps, should he get another term. Oh, and social issues are economic issues. And everything would be fine if only all men were white, Christian, gainfully employed who stick it out and take care of their families, but since they aren't and they don't then social issues are economic issues. We're disappointed that he stopped there. We would have been most impressed if he had busted out Beck's chalkboard to show his work.

Schmaltz Artist Pulls American Jesus Prints From 'Liberal' BYU Shop

Don't the trees look like crucified thieves?

Did you hear about liberal hate site "Groupon" sponsoring the racist Donald Trump's racism? Groupon, you're fired! What's next? How about those liberals at the Mormon university? Yeah, how about them? A guy who makes prints of Jesus and the GOP Presidents and the Troops has pulled his precious artworks from the Mormon Church-owned Brigham Young University bookstore because … liberals? Yes. They were too liberal. So now you have to get this kind of art the same way everybody else does: by searching "Never Forget" on Google Images.

Newspaper, report on these doings!

The painting, "One Nation Under God" depicts Jesus Christ standing near the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court building with a copy of the U.S. Constitution. Flanking him are figures from American history — including Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan — along with soldiers from various wars. In one corner, McNaughton depicts those he sees as having "pushed our country toward socialism" — a Supreme Court justice, a politician, a Hollywood producer, a professor, a "liberal news reporter."

But you won't find this art at the liberal Mormon BYU shop anymore, because for some reason this crap artist thinks BYU is a liberal stronghold or something, who even knows. [Salt Lake Tribune via Wonkette Operative "Dan G."]

The Taliban vowed terror attacks in revenge for the death of Bin Laden. "We will do it by carrying out attacks in Pakistan and America," Taliban spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan said. There was a bomb attack at a Pakistani mosque near the site of Bin Laden's killing, although it was unclear whether the attack was committed in response to the killing of the terror leader.

'Osama bin Laden' Buried At Sea Moments After Being 'Killed'

Good morning, America is #1, Never Fourget, etc. Is everyone still so excited about "Osama bin Laden" being buried at sea, just hours after being "killed" by the CIA? Our Government really went the extra mile to make sure Osama was buried with dignity: "After Bin Laden was killed in a raid by U.S. forces in Pakistan, senior administration officials said the body would be handled according to Islamic practice and tradition. That practice calls for the body to be buried within 24 hours … The U.S. decided to bury him at sea." Ha-ha, what, are you surprised? Don't be! We have been robot-bombing/torturing/raping/slaughtering Muslims in accordance to Islamic practice and tradition for more than ten years. And that is why we hastily dumped "Osama bin Laden's dead corpse" into the ocean before anyone could get a good look at him — because we respect Islam and all of its followers. (Just read that sentence a few times; let the sadness seep in.) Oh, and slightly off-topic: That pic of Dead-Laden was definitely photoshopped, according to The Telegraph. But don't let that stop you! Add that hawt foto to your Facebook Freedom album, and then tag the shit out of it! Americans love their Kodak memories. [LAT/The Telegraph]
