What really is a bible-based marriage?

Must see: America's best christian, Betty Bowers explains it all.

Interestingly those in NH who are opposed to same sex marriage, the religious types, ought to open their bibles and read what god has to say about marriage. They'd be rather surprised. Read this story in the boston globe today.

Man interrupts Obama's speech in Cairo and yells, "We love you!"

It's better than this:

...and I'm all for improving our image around the world, but could Mr. Obama please stay in this country and get to work improving things for the people who voted for him?

Not everyone was thrilled with the speech:

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a statement Thursday to say that it will take much more than "words, speech and slogan" to repair America's "ugly, detested and rough" image, according to the AP.

Likewise, a spokesman for Hamas' leader in Gaza, Ayman Taha, relayed similarly unimpressed sentiments, describing the approach laid out in the speech as "no different from the policy of his predecessor, George W. Bush," the BBC reports.

Also from the BBC, Hassan Fadlallah, speaking for Hezbollah in Lebanon, expresses basically the same viewpoint:

The Islamic world does not need moral or political sermons. It needs a fundamental change in American policy beginning from a halt to complete support for Israeli aggression on the region, especially on Lebanese and Palestinians, to an American withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan and a stop to its interference in the affairs of Islamic countries. We have not seen any change in US policy towards the Palestinian cause.

Behold hateful bigot and Sean Hannity's BFF, radio shock jock Hal Turner:

The REAL Barack Obama: Is THIS the type of guy you want running America? I Don't!

In fact, I'm starting to come to the realization that it may be up to a sole person, acting alone, to make certain this guy is never allowed to hold the most powerful office in the world. Sorry it may have to be that way, but it may.
....

Since as little as 500 micrograms of ricin can kill an adult, I wonder if smearing some on a glove then shaking hands with. . . . . . Barak Obama or Hillary Clinton or John McCain. . . . would have some effect? Probably not. But I wonder if loading some in a straw equipped with a one-way valve at one end to protect the user, would allow ricin powder to be blown in the direction of a candidate for inhalation? HMMMMMMM. It's a good thing that I obey the law and have no intention of doing something like this personally!
...

David Duke: "I don't think Obama is any worse than Hillary or John McCain."

Wow. What a complete sell-out

David Duke just rolled over folks. He did a barrel roll right off Niagara Falls in my view.

How any so-called "White Nationalist" could say such a thing is beyond belief. Kind words from David Duke for a mixed-race, mongrelized negro? It reeks of surrender so badly as to be cowardice.

Now that you get the picture, I'm sure you'll join me in being surprised about this:

Hal Turner charged with inciting injury to two Connecticut lawmakers:

This is the kind of person the DHS warned us about.

The Blessing of the Rifles

Dr. Tim Harlow
Senior Pastor
Parkview Christian Church

cc: Jill Stanek
Pro-Life Pulse

Dear
Pastor Harlow,

I'll admit it I'm ashamed that so many of us in the compelled birth movement have been slow to target another abortion provider so soon after Dr. Tiller's assassination. I guess we're just a little too afraid of being accused of inciting murder. But thank God one of your parishioners is made of stronger stuff. Jill Stanek couldn't even wait until Tiller's family had laid him to rest before announcing the next target, Dr. LeRoy Carhart. It's no wonder she's recognized as a national leader of the compelled birth movement.

And I have to say, she's assembled a fantastic intelligence dossier on him, complete with photos of his clinic and
links to a page listing his home and work addresses as well as photos of his wife and daughter. Lord knows, that's the kind of information the shooters will need.

I have to wonder, however, if you're giving her as much help as she deserves. I mean, hey, she's providing a lot of
free publicity for your church, I think the least you could do is offer to hold a rifle blessing service in her honor.

I hope you'll consider doing so.

Heterosexually yours,

Gen. JC Christian, patriot

P.S. Please keep an eye on your
associate pastors. A couple look a little "funny" to me.

Thanks, Obama!

Jonathan Turley:

The Obama Administration succeeded yesterday in getting three dozen public interest lawsuits dismissed against telecommunication companies. President Obama voted for the bill that gave the companies immunity and sought to prevent a court from declaring the warrantless surveillance program illegal. U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker also ordered investigations in Maine, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont and Missouri to be halted. However, he retained the issue of whether to sanction the Justice Department for its conduct in the case.

The dismissal of these cases should make people cringe next time President Obama or members of Congress say that they believe the courts should resolve constitutional questions. For much of the controversy under the Bush Administration, people like General Michael Hayden insisted that the program was clearly lawful despite the congressional testimony of many of us who called it a federal crime. However, once the issue was actually put in front of a federal court, both President Bush and President Obama pushed to take courts from ruling.

The lingering dispute with the Justice Department centers on a document accidentally turned over to the legal team of the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation in 2004 that allegedly show illegal interceptions. Walker ruled that that Al-Haramain's lawyers were to be given access to the document since they had provided enough public government disclosures to support their eavesdropping claims. The Obama Administration expanded on the state secrets filings to stop such disclosure and even threatened to remove the document from the court docket.

Story here.

Wall Street Journal:

The Obamas are sending ripples through the art world as they put the call out to museums, galleries and private collectors that they'd like to borrow modern art by African-American, Asian, Hispanic and female artists for the White House. In a sharp departure from the 19th-century still lifes, pastorals and portraits that dominate the White House's public rooms, they are choosing bold, abstract art works.

RIP, David Carradine

BANGKOK (AP) — The body of American actor David Carradine, best known for the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu," was found in a hotel room closet with a rope tied to his neck and genitals, and his death may have been accidental suffocation, Thai police said.

Max Blumenthal goes to Jerusalem and interviews young Israeli and American Jews about Obama

I can't decide who is my favorite: the tough guy who "knows where the White House is" and threatens to come over and teabag the President before calling Obama a "faggot",  or the political science major who didn't know who Benjamin Netanyahu was.... proving that Dartmouth has a satellite campus in the middle east.

Former US defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld could soon be in trouble for the role he played in human rights abuses committed in the Guantanamo prison, a United Nations expert said Wednesday.

"In a year or two, his responsibilities will be established. Wherever he goes, he will face difficulties," Leandro Despouy, who is Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, told journalists in Geneva.

Abortion foe to lead HHS faith-based office

President Obama has appointed Alexia Kelley, executive director of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good (CACG), to head the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the Department of Health and Human Services.

...

Under George W. Bush, the faith-based centers didn't play a policy role. But Obama has expanded the faith-based project to include a policy side, and one of its chief goals is to reduce the need for abortion. I have opposed this, because reproductive health is a public health, not a religious issue. Also problematic: It is counterproductive for Obama to appoint someone who disagrees with the administration's stance. Obama finds himself now in the difficult position of having elevated the importance of religion in making policy, and having appointed a religious figure whose opinions on policy conflict with his (or do they really?).

Yesterday, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) launched the Media Fairness Caucus, made up of about a dozen House Republicans, aiming "to fight liberal media bias." The group will "point out unfair stories, meet with members of the media, and write op-eds and letters to the editor to highlight media bias," Newsmax reported. Appearing on Fox News today, Smith declared that "liberal media bias" is a bigger threat to the United States than the recession or terrorism — and Fox's Bill Hemmer seemed to agree:

SMITH: Let me just say — this is going to sound radical, I don't mean for it to be radical — but to me, the greatest threat to America is not necessarily a recession or even another terrorist attack. The greatest threat to America is a liberal media bias.

HEMMER: I would not necessarily call that radical.

Smith must be concerned about a media system that hosts Liz Cheney a dozen times in ten days, or invites twice as many Republicans on as Democrats to discuss the stimulus package, or consistently favors conservative commentators and politicians on the Sunday political talk shows. Not to mention an entire cable network that blatantly cheer-leads for the far right.

Dick Cheney is the biggest piece of shi* in the known universe

And that's a lot of shi* of which to be the biggest, let me tell you. But what can you say about a Vice President who puts the blame for the 9/11 attacks on the head of counterterrorism who time and time again warned the Bush Administration that Al Qaeda was a real threat planning real attacks - and was ignored? Well, if you're Jon Stewart, you can do something other than just scream into the ether:

"It's not bad for a guy like me to have a 30% approval rating in a Muslim country, folks. I'll take that any day." - the lying sack-of-shit Limbaugh

Rush, let's do the math: You claim you have 20 million daily listeners, but that was always a lie. First, that was years ago, in your prime and those are weekly figures.

Truth is, at your zenith you had 5 million listeners out of a possible 300 million. That means every 60th person in America listens to you, which gives you an American approval rating of about 1.66 percent.

So if you have a 30% approval rating in Muslin countries it must be because you say you want America to fail.
